米国内科学会日本支部　支部長

新年度が始まり、会員の皆様におかれましては益々のご活躍のことと拝察いたします。

毎年4月ごろACP米国本部の総会が開催されます。本年度はボストンで開催されました。

日本支部からは、総勢約20名の方が参加されました。恒例のJapan Chapter Receptionには、70名近い方をお招きし、多くの方にお立ち寄りいただきました。長く日本で教育活動をしている米国在住の先生方も含まれ、大変頼もしく思いました。また私のGovernor同期のClass of 2027の仲間や、ACP本部 CEO, Board of Regentの方にも多数、お越しいただきました。今回は初日のプレナリーで世界の医療における人工知能（AI）の影響に関するお話がありました。AIにより医療が現実的に少しずつ影響を受け始め、研究も進んできております。またさまざまな新しい知見が発表され、標準治療が変更となる場合も多数、共有されました。多様性の推進はさらに進み、マイノリティーの尊重を重視する姿勢は非常に明確に打ち出されています。特に外国の医学部卒業生 (IMG)に関して、その立場の理解や支援の必要性など、ACPとして指針を採択したり、パネルディスカッションが開催されました。

今回、日本支部では、学生部門のポスター発表、Doctor’s Dilemmaに参加、2023年度から開始された総合内科の育成のための奨学金であるRising Star Scholarship Programで2名の方が学会に参加され、1名はカナダのカルガリーでの臨床見学を1週間行いました。

またMACP（最高栄誉会員） およびFACP(上級会員)に昇進された方、Chapterで受賞された方はConvocation授賞式に参加し、その達成をみんなで祝福しました。プロフェッショナルとして、学術的な目標達成の面で、非常に感慨深い時間となりました。今回のACP本部総会では、多くの出会い、再会、学術的な交流があり、大変有意義な機会となりました。まだ参加されたことのない方は、ぜひ、参加してみてください。

また2024年6月22-23日（土日）には、5年ぶりに対面で、東京にてACP日本支部総会・講演会が予定されております。多くの会員の皆様にぜひご参加いただけましたら幸いです。今回は、働き方改革の法改正が施行された年でもあり、Physician Well-being 2.0のエキスパートであるノースカロライナ支部長のMarion McCrary先生をお招きしております。そのほかインド支部の先生方のご講演や生涯教育のためのコアレクチャーシリーズもあります。予防医学推進委員会、学生委員会等、活発な活動をしている委員の方々の企画も目白押しです。会員の皆様と5年ぶりに対面でACP日本支部総会・講演会でお会いできますのを楽しみにしております。

 

As the new fiscal year begins, I hope that all of our members are doing well.

Every year in April, the ACP U.S. Headquarters holds its annual conference. This year, the conference was held in Boston.

Approximately 20 people from the Japan Chapter attended the meeting. Nearly 70 people were invited to the annual Japan Chapter Reception, and many people stopped by. It was very encouraging to see that some of the attendees included US-based teachers who have been active in education in Japan for a long time. I was also pleased to see many of my fellow Governor from Class of 2027, as well as the CEO of ACP Headquarters and the Board of Regents. The plenary session on the first day of the conference focused on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on global healthcare, which is starting to have a real impact on healthcare and research. Various new findings were presented, and many cases were shared where the standard of care has been changed. The promotion of diversity has advanced and the emphasis on respect for minorities was very clear. In particular, the ACP adopted guidelines and held a panel discussion on the need to understand and support the position of foreign medical graduates (IMGs).

The Japan Chapter participated in the poster presentation of the student section and the Doctor’s dilemma. Two awardees of the Rising Star Scholarship Program, a scholarship for the career development of general internal medicine that started in FY2023, attended the conference. One of them did a one-week clinical observership in Calgary, Canada.

Those who were promoted to MACP (Member with Highest Honors) and FACP (Senior Member) and those who received awards at the Chapter, attended the Convocation Awards Ceremony and were congratulated by everyone for their accomplishments. It was a very emotional time in terms of professional and academic goals achieved. This ACP Headquarters General Assembly was a great opportunity for many encounters, reunions, and academic exchanges. If you have not yet attended, I encourage you to do so.

In addition, the ACP Japan Chapter Annual Conference is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, June 22-23, 2024 in Tokyo. We hope that many of our members will be able to attend. This year is also the year that the new law on working hours and workplace culture  came into effect, and we have invited Dr. Marion McCrary, Governor of the North Carolina Chapter, who is an expert on Physician Well-being 2.0. Other speakers include the faculty from the Indian Chapter and clinicians or faculty for the Core Lecture Series for Continuing Professional Development. Preventive Medicine Promotion Committee, the Student Committee, and other active committee members have a lot planned. We look forward to seeing all of our members in person for the first time in five years at the ACP Japan Chapter Annual Conference 2024.
