ACP Annual Conference Internal Medicine Meeting 2024

私は2024年4月18～20日にBostonで開催された，ACP IM (Internal Medicine) Meeting 2024に参加させていただきました。本参加により様々な貴重な経験を得て，今後の総合内科としてのキャリア形成につながると強く感じました。この経験はACP日本支部からのサポートのおかげで実現しました。サポートいただいた方々に心より御礼申し上げるとともに，学会参加で得た学び，そして感想を共有します。

ACP日本支部では，総合内科キャリアパス支援の奨学金制度：Rising Star Scholarship Programが今年度よりスタートしました。私は田中幸介先生とともに，本Programの第一期生として選んでいただき，本学会に参加させていただきました。

本学会に参加して一番強く感じたのは，すべてのセッションが非常に教育的であるということです。私は本会前の2024年4月16日・17日に行われたPre-Courseから参加しました。2024年4月16日：Geriatrics and Palliative Care，2024年4月17日：Practical Office Orthopedicsを受講しましたが，どちらのセッションもスライドや講義の中で重要点が分かりやすく整理されており，実践的かつ非常に明快で，自分の中で曖昧だった知識が整理されたと感じました。Orthopedicsでは適宜，内科外来でできる診察法のデモンストレーションがあり，まさにPracticalなセッションでした。

2024年18日～20日の本会も多数のセッションが目白押しでした。Hospital at Home for Older Adultsというセッションでは，米国の医療・医療費の歴史を知ることができ，日本の訪問診療・介護と自分の中で比較しながら非常に興味深く聴講しました。学会を通して，内科学の大事な点は共通しているものの，非常に洗練された伝え方で記憶に残るセッションが多いと感じました。また，2024年4月19日にはBrigham and Women’s Hospitalを案内していただき，米国での医療体制，システムの実際を見学させていただきました。

初めての国際学会で不安もありましたが，非常に多くの方々と交流でき，米国と日本の医療の違い・共通点などを知ることができました。知識はもちろん，自分の視野・世界がとても広がったと思います。Rising Star Scholarship Programは，私の今後のキャリア形成に大きな影響を与えると確信しています。今後も国際的な場へ積極的に参加し，自身の，そして日本の医療の質向上に貢献していきたいと思います。改めまして，ACP日本支部長 矢野晴美先生をはじめ，関係者の皆様方に厚く御礼申し上げます。

Rising Star Scholarship Program Awardee

I participated in the ACP IM (Internal Medicine) meeting 2024, held in Boston on April 18-20. I gained a lot of valuable experiences through this meeting, and I strongly felt that it will lead to my future career development as a general internist. This experience was made possible by the support of the ACP Japan Chapter. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to those who supported me and share my learning and impressions from the conference.

The ACP Japan Chapter has started a scholarship program to support the career path of general internal medicine: the Rising Star Scholarship Program. I was selected as one of the first doctors of this program, along with Dr. Kosuke Tanaka.

I strongly felt that all the sessions were very educational. I started to attend from the Pre-Courses on 16th and 17th, Geriatrics and Palliative Care on 16th and Practical Office Orthopedics on 17th. In the Orthopedics session, there were demonstrations of examination methods that can be used in the outpatient department of internal medicine, and it was a very practical session.

The sessions from the 18th to the 20th were also very interesting. In the session “Hospital at Home for Older Adults”, I learned about the history of medical care and medical costs in the U.S., which I found very interesting as I compared it to Japanese medical care and nursing care. Throughout the conference, I felt that although the important aspects of internal medicine were common, many of the sessions were very sophisticated and memorable in the way they were delivered. On the 19th, we were taken on a tour of Brigham and Women’s Hospital to see the actual medical system in the United States.

Although I was anxious about my first international conference, I was able to interact with a great number of people and learn about the differences and similarities between medical care in the U.S. and Japan. I am confident that the Rising Star Scholarship Program will have a great impact on my future career development. I would like to continue to actively participate in international conferences and contribute to improving the quality of medical care in Japan.
